I have spent the last 15 years of my professional career helping to “Take the Fight Out of Food” for all ages and genders. My goal has been to help free people from a negative relationship with food, work to maintain a lifestyle that is free from the guilt and preoccupation of ‘on’ and ‘off’ dieting, and reconnect them to their bodies. Whether you want to lose or maintain your weight, learning how to have a new relationship with food is imperative to this process. To bring my work out of the office and reach a larger audience, I continue to write for Psychology Today, The Huffington Post and for my own blog Real Food For Real Life.

Reviews

“A spectacular guide for parents in preventing obesity in children and equally importantly, giving children the tools to eat rationally for life. As a cardiologist who sees the effects of obesity and as a concerned parent, this is the best guide for prevention and intervention that I have come across.”
~ Maryjane Farr, M.D., Director of Heart Failure Program New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weil Cornell

“Take the Fight out of Food offers practical, sensible advice for parents concerned about their child’s eating behaviors. This book helps parents to teach their children healthy attitudes about food and nutrition.”
~ Elizabeth A. Rider, MSW, MD, FAAP, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School

“Donna Fish in this book provides the 21st-century family with a sensible, practical approach to a common family problem. She artfully balances the pressures of eating right, limiting sweets, not creating eating disorders, and still enjoying the time with our children. It is a must-read for every busy family struggling with meal times.”
~ Michael Traister, M.D., NYU School of Medicine, Private Practice, NYC

“An extremely useful guide to a subject that is often discussed, but seldom properly addressed: how to get your children to eat right. With an easy-to-follow set of rules, Donna Fish tells us how best to navigate our kids away from the all too common dangers of eating disorders, obesity, and bad nutrition.”
~ Margot Weinshel, RN, L.C.S.W., Senior Faculty Ackerman Family Institute NYC, Co-author of “Surviving an Eating Disorder”

“Donna Fish’s book provides an excellent framework for understanding our own as well as our children’s eating. Since good and eating are an intrinsic part of child rearing (nurturing), her approach can be easily applied to parenting as well. Ms. Fish’s developmental perspective demonstrates that by understanding eating styles, parents can learn more about their children and themselves. This knowledge will make the process of eating and growing exciting and fun for the entire family!”
~ Jane Guttenberg, M.D., NYU Faculty Pediatrics, Private Practice, NYC

“A book every caring parent needs to teach their children good eating habits.”
~ Gilberte Vansintejan, N.P., M.P.H., ED.D., Administration for Children’s Services, NYC
